A Taste of Oakland kicked off July 7th (1st Saturday) at Jack London Square in Oakland, California. A day of music, technology, wine and food in sun turned out to be smash for hundreds, possibly thousands in attendance.
Cooking demonstrations led by chef Nikki Shaw, Michelle Mabry and hosted by Shonda Scott brought together on center stage ( Near Lil Planks) free, healthy, tasty, affordable, recipes to making home cooked food a great delight.
Face painting and gaming activities along with music kept the children engaged and enjoyable busy to create an atmosphere for all in attendance.
Before the event, I had a chance to catch up with Dwaynne Wiggin’s of Tony Toni Tone to discuss plans of “A Taste of Oakland” and the new “House of Music Museum.”
He shared a desire to connect the up and coming youth of Oakland to the growing tech and gaming industries here in the Bay Area.
Every 1st Saturday of the month will be the days of this years Taste of Oakland.
The next Taste of Oakland’s are August 4th and September 1st.
